Moreover, if left untreated, it can turn into a kidney infection. There are various ways to protect yourself from this situation. We can list the ways to protect against urinary tract infections during pregnancy as follows:

• Pregnant women should go to the toilet when they feel the urge to urinate and postpone it.

• Attention should be paid to toilet cleanliness.

• Vaginal douche should not be done

• Vaginal should not be cleaned with water

• Tampons should not be used

• Urine culture should be performed between 11-14 weeks, even if there are no complaints.

• If there are complaints, they should be examined and urine analysis and culture should be done.

How to Treat Urinary Tract Infection During Pregnancy?

It is important to diagnose urinary tract infection early during pregnancy. Following doctor’s check-ups, the appropriate treatment option for the expectant mother is determined. Urinary tract infection treatment can usually be controlled with the use of antibiotics.

If this is the antibiotic, it is decided which one it will be based on the bacteria found in the culture. More caution should be exercised in recurrent urinary tract infections.
